Description: 
This will be mainly a demonstration class although each participant will be able to practice at least 2 of the demonstrated methods in each session. Types of zipper applications demonstrated will include in-seam, lapped, invisible,  fly front, and exposed zippers.

The first session focuses on zipper basics and includes insertion methods for lapped and invisible zippers.  Exposed zippers (all the current fashion rage!) are covered in the second session along with standard in-seam zipper and fly front zipper applications.

Session 1 topics: 

• anatomy of a zipper
• types of zippers
• zipper & seam preparation
• lapped zipper
• invisible zipper

Session 2 topics:

• inseam zipper
  • exposed
  • hidden
• fly front zipper

Participants may register for one or both sessions.  Cost for individual session is $40.00.

Materials List:

Participants will need to bring their basic tool kit.

Students bringing their own sewing machine will need to also bring a traditional zipper foot and an invisible zipper foot (session 1 only) that ftis their machine.

A one time materials fee is payable to instructor at the beginning of the class which includes notes, zippers for class, and text (Mad About Zippers by Mary McCarthy); $20 fee for both sessions, $15 fee for an individual session.

Note:  Basic sewing tools as well as some other notions are available for purchase at the parlour.
