Class & Private Lesson Policies

Class Transfer Policy
A $10.00 transaction fee applies to all initial class transfers. A second transfer will result in an additional transaction fee of $25.00.  There will be no refunds or transfers beyond the second. Please contact us via email for any extenuating circumstances.

To transfer to another class, the request must be made 5 full days prior to the start date of the original class. You will be charged the appropriate transaction fee.  If the new class costs less than the original, the remaining balance will remain on account with us and may be applied to a future class.

There are no refunds or make-ups for missed classes.

Class Cancellation Policy
A $15.00 transaction fee applies to all class cancellations. To receive a refund for a cancelled registration, notification must be given at least one full week prior to the class start date. If you cancel within one week, but at least 5 days prior, a transfer to another class would be an option. See class transfer policy.

If we must cancel a class, you will receive a full refund, or you may apply the fee to another class.

If the new class costs less than the original, the remaining balance will remain on account with us and may be applied to a future class.

Payment Policy
All classes with a fee less than $100.00 require full payment at the time of registration. Classes priced over $100.00 require at least $100 or 50% of the fee as a deposit, whichever is greater, at time of registration. The balance is due the first day of class. If registering via PayPal, partial payment is not available.
Material fees, if not included in class fee, can be paid to your instructor the first day of class.

Private Lesson Cancellation Policy
The pre-paid fees and deposits are non-refundable.

You may re-schedule up to 24 hours prior to your appointment.  Up to 2 re-schedules may be made at no charge; subsequent re-schedule requests for the same appointment will result in an additional $10.00 fee payable at the time of the lesson.

Parlour Equipment Use Policy

General
All our machines are very well maintained. We pamper them and hope that you will treat them with care. Should you have any problems, please let us know immediately. Please do not try to force anything - often that will cause damage that could have otherwise been avoided.

Needles
Each sewing machine will be equipped with a Universal 80/12 needle. If using a serger/overlock machine, one additional needle will be supplied upon request, if using the two needle machine feature.
The felting machine will be equipped with 5 needles. These needles are VERY expensive and can be difficult to replace. Please treat them with care.
If you break or otherwise damage any needle on the machine, it will be your responsibility to replace the needle with a new one of the same size, type, and quality.

Thread Thread is not supplied by the parlour except for the Totally New, Re-entry Sewing, and first night of the Beginner Sewing series. Sewing machine and serger thread is available for purchase at the parlour. Participants may also pay a "notions fee" of $5.00 per session to use "parlour" thread.

Bobbins Empty bobbins will be provided for the on-site Bernina sewing machines. They are also available for sale. Please refer to the "Sewing machines" section below for details.

Other Notions Participants are expected to provide their own sewing notions. Students are expected to have their own basic sewing toolkit. Should it become necessary, there are some general sewing tools available for use at the parlour (shears, pins, etc.) for a small "notions fee" (waived for first time class-enrolled students). The fee will vary depending upon the type of class and notions needed.

Sewing Machines
Upon check-in, you will receive a machine "kit" containing a bobbin, bobbin case, screw driver (for needle replacement), and 2 machine feet (from the available selection). The kit, in its entirety, must be returned before leaving. You will be charged (full replacement value) for any missing or damaged components.
If you wish to use any other machine accessories (specialty feet, cut & sew, eyelet kit, etc.), they will need to be requested and checked out separately.

Sergers/Overlock Machines
If you wish to use any of the accessories, you will need to check-out each accessory separately.
If you wish to use the coverstitch and the machine is not already set up for that feature, please let us know and we will set it up for you. The only machine with cover stitch capability is the Pfaff Coverlock; this machine requires the use of a specific needle type. If the needle(s) on the machine are not applicable for your project, you will need to supply compatible needles. Compatible needles are available for purchase at the parlour.

Embroidery Machines
One machine needle (size 75/11) is supplied with each machine, for use with 60 weight embroidery thread. (NOTE: Embroidery machine needles are not the same size as those used on the general sewing machines.) Should you desire to use a heavier weight thread or a metallic thread, you will need to supply a larger sized compatible needle. Embroidery supplies (stabilizer, temporary adhesive, etc.) are the responsibility of the user. Supplies (other than special embroidery thread) are available for purchase at the parlour.
